Rent a scooter in Chiang Mai, right at the camp

Meaw keeps a few well-kept automatic Hondas at the camp for guests. Message us your dates, land in Chiang Mai, and ride out the same day — by the day or by the month, no agency in between.

Chiang Mai is a scooter city, and out here it really counts. The camp sits in Nong Kwai, in Hang Dong — on two wheels the old city is twenty minutes away, and the waterfalls and mountain cafés even closer.

Most rental shops are in the city centre, which means a ride into town and a counter queue before you've even unpacked. Ours are parked where you train: you arrive, we hand you the keys, you ride.

Nothing fancy — reliable automatic Hondas that Meaw keeps serviced and ready. The price you see is the price you pay, in THB. Message us to check what's free for your dates.

How it works

Booked like everything else here — one message

  1. Message us your dates

WhatsApp is fastest. Tell us when you land and how long you're staying, and we'll confirm which scooter is free.

  2. Pick up the keys at the camp

No office, no counter queue. The scooter is waiting at the camp and the paperwork takes a few minutes, together.

  3. Ride, train, explore

Keep it for your whole stay — pay by the day or by the month, whichever works out better for your dates.

Deposit, helmets and what to bring depend on the scooter and the length of your stay — ask when you book and we'll give you the exact rundown before you commit to anything.

Why rent here

Why guests rent at the camp instead of in town

No trip into town

City rental shops mean a ride in and back before you even start. Here the scooter is parked where you train and sleep.

Honest local prices

From 350 THB a day or 3,000 THB a month — the price you see is the price you pay, no airport markup.

We know the roads

Waterfall loops, mountain cafés, the quiet back way into the old city — tell us what you're after and we'll point you the right way.

One less thing to sort

Training, a room, a scooter — one WhatsApp thread with people you already know, instead of a third company and a third deposit.

Good to know

Scooter questions, straight answers

Training with us too? Pick your week or month on the packages page, and if you're settling in for a season, here's how to budget a few months in Chiang Mai.

Do I need a licence to rent a scooter in Chiang Mai?
Legally, yes — a motorcycle licence, which for most visitors means an International Driving Permit (IDP) with the motorcycle category from your home country. Police checkpoints around Chiang Mai do check, and riding without one usually means a fine. Sort the IDP before you fly; it's the cheap, easy version of this story.
Is there a deposit?
Conditions depend on the scooter and how long you're staying. Message us when you book and we'll spell out the deposit and paperwork before you arrive — no surprises at pickup.
Are helmets included?
Ask when you book and we'll sort out what you need. Either way, wear one on every ride — it's the law in Thailand, and the checkpoints enforce it.
Can I rent a scooter if I'm not training at the camp?
Our guests come first — people training or staying with us. If a scooter is free for your dates anyway, ask; the worst we can say is that a guest beat you to it.
What about petrol?
Petrol is on you, and it's not the line in your budget you'll notice — these scooters sip fuel. Petrol stations are everywhere on the Hang Dong side, and roadside bottle refills work in a pinch.
